작년 이맘때 보았던 Chardonnay de la Chevaliere의 기억이 아직 생생한데,

신기하게도 꼭 1년 만에 마트 같은 선반에서 Laroche의 또 다른 Beziers 産 블랑이 눈에 띄었다.

"Viognier"

처음 보는 품종이라서 호기심이 발동했다.  또 공부 모드~

지난번 Chardonnay와 같은 급의 레이블이지만 가격은 두배가 넘었다.

지난번 경험이 좋아서 그냥 선택했다.

눈,코,입을 형상화한 이 집 로고는

빛깔(시각), 향기(후각), 맛(미각)에서 모두 이루겠다는 와이너리의 의지를 고스란히 드러낸다.

맑고 투명한 황금빛 - 지난 번과 다를 바 없다.

상큼한 향기 - 과일향 같기도 하고 과실수 꽃 향기 같기도....

Chardonnay에서 경험했던 뒤끝의 버터향은 없다.  아마도 품종 차이일 듯.

처음부터 끝까지 드라이한 것이 Duroche Chardonnay를 떠오르게 한다.

하지만 한 가지, 소주에 담근 과실주에서 종종 보게 되는 덜 된 쓴 맛이 스쳐가는 게 아쉽다.

이 쓴 맛은 마지막 잔까지 이어진다.

이불을 걷어차면 일어날 수 있다는 걸 알지만

달콤한 새벽 단꿈을 끊고 싶지 않은

그 경계의 고단함은 참으로 쓰다.

차마 누구에게 내놓고 불평할 수 없는

유치한 쓴 맛이다.

하지만 그 쓴 맛을 봐야만

찬란한 daylight를 맞고 제자리를 찾아갈 수 있다.
